After receiving his degree in Commercial Art from the University of Hawaii, he did work for small newspapers, ad agencies, and local businesses in Honolulu and his home town of Newport, Rhode Island. He held a staff position as an illustrator for a computer company and then the U.S. Naval War College. In 1990, Bob entered the world of science fiction, starting with a group exhibit at the Park Avenue Atrium in New York City. Since then, his work has appeared in more than 100 issues of 20 different publications in the U.S. and England. These include AMAZING STORIES, TOMORROW, EXPANSE, PIRATE WRITINGS, and HAUNTS MAGAZINE. His work has also appeared in THE STAR TREK CONCORDANCE, the WRITERS OF THE FUTURE fiction anthology, and in the highly acclaimed card game LEGEND OF THE FIVE RINGS. His work has graced the pages of work of over 90 authors, including Ursula K. LeGuin, Alexander Jablokov, Nina Kiriki Hoffman, Russell Kirk, and Lawrence Watt-Evans. His work has also been exhibited at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum, the War College Museum, and many science fiction convention art shows, including DragonCon, Disclave, Oasis, PhilCon, AmigoCon, and Arisia.
